Rebel's comments on her novels...
The Devil of Charleston: This novel has a particular place in my heart, being my first published work. I
am passionate about all my characters, but Royal certainly is up there along with Maxim (who my readers
have yet to meet, the mysterious rogue)! The story moves fast and it does not hold back. To me, this
novel illustrates how even the best of us are not perfect and are capable of extreme brutality and
inhumanity, along with the worst of us; and I must attest that the villain, Carter Seymour, is perhaps one
of the slimiest characters I have ever created. The manuscript for this novel poured out of me, with the
rough draft being completed in six months upon my arrival in Charleston, SC. This book also opened
up several doors in my personal life and because of that it quite possibly will always be my favorite.
Spirit of The Shadows: This book is an enigma. I started it was I was 20 years old and finished it just
over seven years later. On the shelf, off, and on again...such was the journey of this book. I grew as the
story grew. It originally began as a story set along the West Coast and transformed to the East when I
moved to Charleston. Colin is lost, as I have been in portions of my life; at times when one feels that
there is no such thing as love. Lyndsey's journey from being frightened and afraid into her own woman is
something that I hope might inspire other women who have been in her shoes; while I was never in such a
dark place, I do know people who have, and as terrifying as it might be to try and escape it, the richest
rewards of life and love await. This book also proved to me that every story has it's own journey, it's
own life, and needs to come to fruition in it's own way. Apparently, my patience with it and refusal to let
it go completely has paid off; it seems to be the reader's favorite thus far.
Coming soon... a tale of post-Civil War West full of murder, passion, and colorful characters -
Cheyenne Dreams! I am currently seeking literary representation or national distribution for this
title...and in the works as well is Forbidden, an antebellum love affair of honor and denial that is in many
ways based on my own real-life romance!
